1. US embassy, consulates in India plan to process ‘record’ number of visas in 2023.

The US embassy is looking to reduce the backlog for first-time B1 and B2 tourist and business travel visas. “We recently opened up 2.5 lakh of B1/B2 visa appointments throughout India and we have dozens of officers, who have come from embassies around the world and Washington DC, specifically to help us to conduct interviews for first-time B1/B2 applicants,” said John Ballard, Chief, Mumbai Consulate.

2. Air India launches non-stop flight to Milan.

Operated by the B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, flight Al137 from Delhi to Milan will operate on Wed, Fri, Sun and Mon. It departs Delhi at 14:20 hrs and lands at Milan at 18:30 hrs (LT). The return flight Al138 will leave Milan at 20:00 hrs on the same day to reach Delhi at 08:00 hrs the next day.

5. Despite high costs, 31% travellers plan to spend more on int’l travel in 2023 : WTTC.

According to WTTC, 2023 is looking even better in terms of travellers’ spend. Despite concerns about inflation and the cost-of-living crisis around the world, nearly a third (31%) of travellers said they intend to spend more on international travel this year than in 2022.

6. Jodhpur to get new terminal building, Kota to get new airport: Scindia.

To cater to the increased air travel demand in Jodhpur, a new terminal building built at a cost of 500 crore will be inaugurated soon. Aviation Minister Scindia also added that new airports have been established in Kishangarh, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer and a new airport is also being planned for Kota.
