1. Credit card payments on foreign tours to be brought under LRS.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Reserve Bank has been asked to look into ways to bring credit card payments on foreign tours under the LRS. “It has been represented that payments for foreign tours through a credit card are not being captured under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) and such payments escape tax collection at source (TCS),” she said.

2. Azerbaijan drops COVID passport requirement for travelers.

From Mar 28, foreign travellers will no longer be required to present COVID passports for entry into Azerbaijan. The decision was made in recognition of the declining number of COVID-19 cases. The government encourages visitors to get vaccinated before travelling, but this is no longer a requirement for entry.

HELICOPTER SERVICE WILL START FOR KEDARNATH DHAM

3. IRCTC to start helicopter services to Kedarnath Dham.

IRCTC has signed an MoU with Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority to provide Helicopter ticket booking service for a period of 5 years to the pilgrims of Kedarnath Dham. The trial run would be completed by March 31 and booking would likely be open from today.

4. First Delhi-Dharamshala-Delhi Indigo flight flagged off.

Union Ministers Anurag Thakur, Jyotiraditya Scindia and V.K.Singh flagged off the first Indigo Airline Delhi-Dharamshala-Delhi flight. IndiGo will operate daily flights to Dharamshala from Delhi. The flight is expected to bring in more tourists to Himachal which will benefit the people of the state.

5. Visa application volume from Kolkata reaches 85% of pre-pandemic level.

The visa application volume from Kolkata has reached 85% of the pre-pandemic level as travellers from here give vent to revenge travel made easier by re-opening up of borders and easing of COVID restrictions, said Prabuddha Sen, COO South Asia) of VFS Global.

6. Air India Group integrates Air India Express and AirAsia India

The Air India Group has integrated two of its low- cost subsidiary airlines.
