1. Bihar govt constitutes Advisory Board of Bodh Gaya temple.

The ambassadors of Bhutan, Thailand, Myanmar, Japan, Cambodia, Mongolia, South Korea, Vietnam, Laos and Sri Lanka are part of the advisory board. The board also includes representatives from the Central govt, Bihar Legislative Assembly and several dignitaries. The advisory board’s main function is to direct the temple’s management committee on all matters related to the Mahabodhi Temple Complex.

2. ‘Jyotisar Anubhav Kendra’ to be built at Kurukshetra at Rs 205 crore: Haryana CM.

Manohar Lal Khattar, Haryana CM said that in ‘Block A’ of the Jyotisar Anubhav Kendra project, characters of Mahabharata will be showcased. ‘Block B’ will have tableaux highlighting the main causes of Mahabharata, such as Draupadi Cheerharan’, ‘Lakshya Graha’, etc. In Block C, detailed info on Mahabharata will be showcased.

3. Switzerland Embassy clarifies that it hasn’t suspended visa appointments for Indian groups.

“The Embassy of Switzerland in India has not suspended Schengen visa appointments for Indian tour groups. We have almost 800 daily appointments through the end of September 2023, which include 22 groups,” a spokesperson for the Embassy outlined.

4. Kenya to grant visas on arrival after online e-visa system hacked.

Kenya will grant visas on arrival to all travellers, after an online application platform collapsed making most government services inaccessible. “There is currently a challenge in the Government e-citizen platform,” said the letter from the Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Ministry.

5. UP Cabinet approves policy for making state water tourism, adventure sports destination.

The UP Water Tourism and Adventure Sports Policy, 2023, will be valid for 10 years from the date notified by the state govt. This policy will apply to all inland land-based, air-based and water routes, dams, reservoirs, lakes, rivers, etc and all adventure activities to be carried out on various water bodies.

6. Western Australia launches EverNow festival to bolster its events calendar.

EverNow is a free local festival that will celebrate WA’s unique nature and indigenous culture and will bolster the State’s events calendar and support jobs and the local economy.
