1. Sri Lanka proposes free visa for five countries including India.

With the aim to attract more tourists, Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Tourism has submitted a Cabinet paper proposing free tourist visas for visitors from China, Russia, India, Thailand, and Indonesia. The proposal has been jointly presented by PM Dinesh Gunawardena, Tourism Minister Harin Fernando, Public Security Minister Tiran Alles, and Foreign Minister Ali Sabry. The proposal, jointly presented at Cabinet meeting.

2. MP Tourism to organise Gandhi Sagar Floating Festival, Kuno Forest Festival.

MP Tourism Board has announced the first-ever Kuno Forest Festival along with the second edition of the Gandhi Sagar Floating Festival in Mandsaur. The 5-day Gandhi Sagar Floating Festival will commence on October 27, while the Kuno Forest Festival will start on December 1. There will be many cultural experiences and exciting activities at both festivals.

3. Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam to open on October 15

“In view of present road conditions due to inclement weather, the park is partially opened only for Jeep Safari in two ranges: Kaziranga Range, Kohora, and Western Range, Bagori. These ranges will remain closed every Wednesday,” said the Divisional Forest Officer of the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division.

4. Rajasthan Tourism estimates more than 10 cr domestic & intl tourists by Sept 2023 end.

Rajasthan’s tourism is steadily advancing which is evident in the increasing influx of both national and international visitors, surpassing 10 crore by September this year The state’s ranking has gone from 11th to 7th position on the national and international tourism scale this year.

5. Meghalaya to host International Tourism Mart (ITM) from Nov 21 to 23, 2023.

The 11th edition of ITM will be held in Shillong. “We will have international participants from various countries who will be introduced to our crafts, tourist spots, and activities. Through this event, we also want to showcase Meghalaya as a tourism hub at the international level,” said Tourism Minister.

6. GCC countries approve unified GCC tourist visa.

During the recently concluded Gulf tourism ministers meeting in Oman, the ministers agreed to express their views on a proposed unified GCC tourist visa by Dec 2023. Oman’s Minister of Heritage and Tourism stated there was a consensus among the ministers in favour of a common GCC tourist visa, and the implementation is expected to begin once all necessary mechanisms are in place.
